.htTool: a tool for creating .htaccess files

.htTool is a small tool I created some time ago to make it easier to create .htaccess files. Many times when I had to create a .htaccess file I ended up copy/pasting some chunks of code from other .htaccess-files and Googling the rest. So I thought: “Hey! It should be easier to create a .htaccess file!”. So I came up with .htTool: It’s a small JavaScript-driven project that outputs custom made .htaccess code for you.

Currently it supports the following features:

  • Redirect non-www to www
  • Redirect /sitemap.xml to /sitemapxml/
  • Force IE to the latest render engine
  • Compress text, HTML, JavaScript, CSS & XML
  • Cache files
  • Add mime-types for videofiles
  • Force media downloads
  • Custom error documents
  • Prevent hotlinking

You can access the tool on my GitHub page.
It’s actually a bit of an oldie, but I’ve never given it a proper post on my blog. Mainly because I didn’t have a blog at the time ๐Ÿ˜‰
